Malad Drive In
Malad Drive In is a small-town gem tucked away at 12 W 100 N, Malad City, ID 83252, United States, and it instantly feels like stepping back into a classic diner experience. The retro vibe is matched by a menu that balances comfort food favorites with hearty portions, making it a local go-to spot. From the moment you call +1 208-766-4316 for a pickup order or drop by in person, the friendliness of the staff sets the tone for a casual meal worth remembering.
The menu is built around American diner staples: juicy burgers layered with crisp lettuce and melted cheese, fries cooked to golden perfection, and milkshakes that are thick enough to count as dessert on their own. On my visit, I tried their bacon cheeseburger, and it had that unmistakable fresh-off-the-grill taste that you don’t always find in chain restaurants. Friends of mine swear by their fried chicken basket, which comes out piping hot with a crunchy coating and tender meat inside. For those with lighter appetites, sandwiches and salads are also available, showing that this diner knows how to cater to different cravings.
What makes the experience stand out isn’t just the food but the sense of community. Reviews from locals often highlight the consistency of quality and the fair prices, which reflect the diner’s reputation as a trustworthy spot for both travelers passing through and residents who keep coming back. Having personally tried several small-town diners in Idaho, I can say Malad Drive In holds its ground with authentic flavors and warm service. If you’re driving through Malad City, this is one location that blends nostalgia with good food, turning a simple meal into a memorable stop.

This is a fun place to stop! The food is good and the staff is friendly. We always order the cherry buzz and a lime Rickey! The glamor burger with fries is popular. There is a secret sandwich called a chicken bagel! It is a bagel with a breaded piece of chicken, a slice of ham, and cheese on it. They put a little cream cheese on it. It sounds weird, but it is soooo good! Also, get a shake! Fresh strawberry or raspberry in season!
Enjoyed the quick service and friendly faces. Chuckled watching grandparents and grandkids share a meal and practicing going cross eyed. Thanks for a stroll down memory lane with the local vibe.
